The Staples Education Foundation
At Cressida Capital, we believe in creating opportunities for the next generation. We are proud to support the Staples Education Foundation (SEF), a tertiary scholarship programme established by Haydn Staples in 2015 and based in our Newmarket offices.
Helping Young People Succeed
SEF was established to help talented young people make a successful transition from secondary school to tertiary education and, ultimately, into meaningful careers.
Beginning with students from Dilworth School, the programme has grown significantly over the past decade and, since 2024, has also welcomed students from McAuley High School.
Today, SEF supports more than 100 young New Zealanders, providing much more than financial assistance.
More Than a Scholarship
SEF takes a holistic approach, supporting scholars throughout their tertiary journey with:
- Financial support to assist with the costs of tertiary study
- A Buddy during their first year to help with the transition to tertiary education
- A Mentor for three years, providing guidance and encouragement
- Support and development through workshops and opportunities designed to build confidence and life skills
- Work experience each year, providing valuable exposure to their chosen career
- Ongoing support from the SEF Executive Team and Trustees
The programme is centred around three goals: achieving a tertiary qualification, securing employment in a chosen career, and giving back to their school and wider community.
Cressida’s Involvement
Cressida supports SEF in practical ways, including providing work experience opportunities in property and finance. Warren Law and Graeme Clark are current SEF mentors, while Nigel Staples has also contributed as a mentor in the past.
